Ladies of LAM

The Ladies of LAM is a wonderful ministry for women and young ladies (married and single) ages 18 and older. Directed by First Lady Gwendolyn Cast, the ministry focuses on meeting the needs of women both spiritually and naturally.

First Lady Cast and her team know what it’s like to deal with the stress and pressures of everyday life. They relate to the needs women have spiritually, relationally, financially, physically and emotionally. Their goal is to provide a well-rounded ministry that reaches every woman in every walk of life. They do this by coordinating edifying, fun-filled activities such as, Ladies Night Out, teas and an annual women’s retreat. The ladies of LAM are also responsible for the coordination of married couples and singles outings.

Objectives

Part of LAM’s vision is to focus on the spiritual growth and development of our church and community. The activities that the Ladies of LAM sponsor, bring women in our ministry and invited guest together to:

• Address issues that are unique to women and provide a biblical perspective
• Foster the (intentional) development of relationships between women in the ministry
• Provide an outlet for women from day-to-day responsibilities
• Mentor, encourage, support and share

2009 Initiative – Our Theme – God’s Amazing Grace

Talk with any woman in our ministry and you’re likely to find that someone in their circle has been affected by breast cancer. This year the Ladies of LAM are standing strong and vigilant in the fight against this destructive disease. Spiritually, we are praying for God’s mercy and healing power for our sister’s that are dealing with breast and other forms of cancer. We are embracing the word of God as found in Ephesians 2:5-8:

"Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved); and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus; that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus; for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God"

Naturally, we are taking a stand and putting our hands to the plow. Please watch for more information on the following activities in support of this effort:

• A community based breast cancer walk – spring/summer 2009
• Discussions and presentations on the subject of breast cancer at our quarterly and annual outings
• A commitment to the sharing of promotional and informative material to raise awareness and encourage the Ladies of LAM to do monthly self-exams and have annual mammograms – Knowledge is power!
