A Brief History of our Church

bishop and lady cast

Bishop Adolphus L. Cast, Senior Pastor of LAM Christian Church has followed a divine mandate, which has uniquely tied his destiny to the city of Warren, MI. Bishop Cast, who has been married for over 40 years to his wife Gwendolyn, and a father of six, and a grandfather of fourteen, began his secular career in Warren over 40 years ago. As an automotive body designer for General Motors, he worked in the GM Technical Center on Twelve Mile and Mound for 30 years and retired in 1999. During his time at the Tech Center he was inspired to take over an existing lunch-time Bible study that flourished and caused many hearts and lives to be changed. Bishop Cast portrayed a life of Christian love and demonstrated genuine concern for mankind during his 30 years at General Motors, so much so that many current and former employees still desire to hear him preach the Word of God.

Although the Bible study was going well, there was a greater mandate on his life; the call to be a Shepherd and a Pastor to the people. Bishop Cast was commissioned by the late Bishop Nemiah Smith of Greater Apostolic Faith Temple (G.A.F.T.). As a result, on December 8, 1996 Life Application Ministries had its official Church Grand Opening. In its infancy, LAM started with only 6 members. But as the ministry began to grow, the need for more space became inevitable. LAM had many temporary homes in Warren such as the Ramada Inn, the YMCA, and the former Bethesda Christian School in the Hawthorne Center. However, during these transition times many lives were impacted and miracles were performed. As it would be, the membership began to grow, and today the current membership is growing with a robust active attendance of over 400 persons every week.

In 1996, Bishop Cast was urged by many to have a more extensive Bible study, many felt that the half hour during lunchtime did not suffice. So with the help of a co-worker, Don Guilloz, Bible study was held at the Golden Harvest Restaurant Conference Room across from the GM Tech Center, on Tuesdays at 4pm. The name of the Bible study was Life Application Ministries Bible Study (LAMBS).

Today at its location at 31731 Schoenherr Road in Warren, MI the current membership is growing with a robust active attendance of over 600 persons every week.

The life of Bishop Cast has been one of servitude and humility. Yet, those who have come in contact with him recognized that he was a giant in the Body of Christ. In May of 2007 destiny intersected with humility, as our Pastor was elevated to the Bishopric in the Rhema Fellowship of Churches.

Notwithstanding many opportunities to pastor in other cities due to over 20 years of evangelism across the country, his heart was drawn to Warren. He has great affinity for the city of Warren by being convinced that he has a mandate to bring social, racial, ecumenical and spiritual harmony to a city that has been plagued with division and controversy. As a transitionary leader, Bishop Cast states, “Most people come to an area to find something to receive; we on the other hand, came to Warren because we have something to give.” He believes that through practical application of Godly principles, LAM Christian Church will be a refuge where people can celebrate differences and dwell in harmony. This component of tranquility will inevitably spill over into the community and change the atmosphere. LAM members must be convinced, because many members have moved from other surrounding areas into the city of Warren, or into Macomb county. A great proponent of practical life principles, Bishop Cast will often state, “Information without application will lead to frustration!”
